Chocolate Ice Cream and Chocolate Craft Beer

Dessert in a glass, and in a bowl: Chocolate Hazelnut Porter is a Herbed / Spiced Beer style beer brewed by Heretic Brewing Company in Fairfield, CA. According to Heretic’s website: “It is a rich, robust porter bursting with luscious chocolate and hazelnut. Notes of coffee and caramel round out this delicious treat.”
Sounds amazing. And, thankfully the beer lived up to its reputation.  Last night Shana and I visited The Pullman Kitchen, a new Santa Rosa restaurant. They posted a picture of the pairing on their Instagram page and we were compelled to try it out.

The description: ” It’s a hot one! We still have our house made chocolate peanut butter crunch ice cream. And to get over hump day you might as well pair it with a 22oz. Heretic chocolate hazelnut porter.”

Craft Beer and Dessert Pairing

Wow… Just, wow. Chocolate Peanut butter crunch ice cream and the hazelnut porter were a great match. I’m not sure food pairings get much better. The ice cream alone is stellar, then you take a sip of the Porter and bursts of vanilla land all over your tongue.
Perfect compliment… Cheers!
