Brewery: Tidepool Brewing
Beer: Pufferfish Pilsner
Head: Head retention was maintained a good 5 minutes. Frothy & tan, reminds me of the head on a rootbeer float
Appearance: Slight red to caramel in the mid glass; very cloudy, much as a solid wheat beer
Aroma: Citrus notes lead to a mild sweetness, very much like a pineapple soft candy.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth & somewhat creamy, somewhat un-characteristic of a pilsner. The dryness does remain on the tongue, albeit, about 30 sec. after a sip
Flavor: Good malty character, and somewhat rich for the style. Does not have the quintessential ‘crisp-ness’, atypical of a pilsner.
Overall: A solid, sessionable brew; at 5.0%, you’d never know it. Drinks smooth & clean, with a subtle citrus hint, reminding you of the floral goodness hop’s provide. Slightly off it’s style name sake, but a great beer nonetheless
