Brewery: Stone Brewing Co.
Beer: Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale
ABV / IBU: 8.7% / 90
Food Pairings: Vanilla Ice Cream
Notes: Black… I mean Black!!! If I didn’t know better, i’d have been sold a porter.
Head: Rich, frothy, well sustained lacing (for now). Solid brown, or tan…well, more of a boiling pot of fresh caramel.
Appearance: Damn man, call it a Black IPA, or a strong ale…either way, this baby is Dark! If i didn’t know it’s style, I would’ve thought it’s a porter/stout.
Aroma: Hop notes lead to…more hop’s; Bit spicy as well. Oh, wait a bit, swirl it around, and surprise…black-cherry. Strangely, tanic scents, as if i’m in a winery.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, and creamy. Carbonation exists, but maintains well at the front of the mouth. Bit sudsy as well.
Flavor: Oh, sweet bitterness; how i love thee. Strong ale or IPA, either name fits this bold ale. Definitive arabica shows up with every sip. With a little encouragement, a mild french-vanilla flavor will knock your door.
Overall: At the pub, my boy’s, warm day, and smokes (cigar or pipe, you choose)..This brew is a must. Hoppy & Rich, this is how a bitter beer should taste.
