Brewery: New Belgium Brewing Co.
Beer: Ranger IPA
ABV / IBU: 6.5% / 70
Head: Fairly consistent lacing. Not holding as well after a 3-5 min set. Doilies on an english dining table isn’t quite the right description, but getting there. Holds thick at the edges, and light in the middle, exactly as a good… (well you get the point)
Color: Golden/Amber; looks like a slightly darker version of a czech-pilsner
Aroma: Unfortunately, minimal hop aroma, but lots of floral appearance, mild citrus notes, but can pick it out. Swished around a bit, and a burst of grapefruit shows up, and apple! Feeling like a steak & glass of Savignon Blanc.
Mouthfeel: Very clean & smooth. Finishes almost as refreshing as a cool glass of iced tea. And, like a tea (iced), holds a wonderful tea leaf & dried… (can’t place it)
Flavor: Citrus, loosing the grapefruit from earlier, but still maintaining the characteristics of a mildly-bittered orange…but less sweet. Star anise shows itself on the finish.
Overall: An IPA, this is… hmm? Not sure how to place it; more akin to a session pale ale. Unfortunately, i’m just not feeling the IPA. Not a bad brew, by any means, holds it’s own with a standard bitter.
