Brewery: Anderson Valley Brewing Co.
Head: Fluffy, with a fair amount of lacing. Maintains a sudsy, off-white character, like a strong surf shows after a storm.
Appearance: Chocolaty brown, with a bold coffee appearance.
Aroma: Strong vanilla bean w/i a sugar mix. Blended by your local candy maker. Spiced rum presents, when it’s sloshed like a newbie pirate.
Mouthfeel: Smooth & light, this fermentation holds to a well blended smoothie at your local Keva Juice. Carbonation exists, but dissapates as quickly as it’s presented. Finishes fairly clean.
Flavor: Amazingly strong whiskey & caramelized cherries, lead way to a finish that feels as if I just finished one of my moms’ oatmeal/raisin cookies.
Overall: As I feel a barleywine should withstand; Caramelized, sweet…but holds the sweetness at bay, to maintain a somewhat savory character in the end. If I didn’t know better, i’d think it was a glass of Sailor Jerry & Coke.
